"HOMOSEXUALITY AS TRANSGRESSION IN THE BIBLE: A CLOSER LOOK"

Is it impossible to believe in or love God if one is homosexual?
And if you are homosexual  and believe in God and Jesus Christ, does that mean it is inappropriate for you to question The Bible as formally being the word of God?
   These questions arose in me because of two issues I've seen as being prevalent in modern-day society:
The use of The Bible by homophobes to attack homosexuality.
And the fact that some homosexuals themselves see the bible as a book which labels them "wicked" & "abominations to God".
   I am Same Gender Loving. I believe in a Higher Power.
But concerning the "holy scriptures", I have come to realize that The Bible is as much a documentation of times and peoples as it is a sacred book. The Bible is a  chronicle of occurrences as much as it is teachings about God and Man's relationship to Him.
   As you are no doubt aware people who are anti-gay but 'religious' are fond of relaying the destruction of the cities of Sodom & Gomorrah and citing verses from the Book of Leviticus to substantiate the evils of homosexuality. On both counts they generally do this without putting into context what was taking place at the time of the account of Sodom& Gomorrah as well as the social & religious climate at the time Leviticus was written.
  Sodom & Gomorrah were infamous for extreme cruelty to strangers; for being populated by citizens who were materialistic, greedy and uncharitable to outsiders, even to the point of murder!
And the Book of Leviticus was composed during Babylonian exile in 550-500 BCE. when the Jews were determined to preserve the "purity" of their religion in the midst of the Pagans who endeavored to indoctrinate their own rites & customs...which included crossdressing & also homosexual sex. Today the "abominations" listed in the passages of Leviticus are often used to curse homosexuality in general when that was not the original purpose for the Book's composition.
Also most modern day gay bashing religious persons subscribe to the King James Version (KJV) of The Bible. And we should be aware that King James The First commissioned the reaffirmation of The Buggery Act of 1533, which CRIMINALIZED homosexuality in the UK, while he himself had several well documented homosexual relationships, regardless of being the father of eight children! No doubt we are all familiar with homosexuals in history who were most cruel to homosexuals as a manifestation of their ownself hatred!
   The Biblical Jesus never once condemned homosexuality. And it is written that the Biblical David and Jonathan shared a love that "surpassed the love of women" and actually shared a formal same-sex "covenant".
   God is Love. Period. Those who are gay and doubting how you fit into God promise of love & light due to what has been used as weapons from the Bible to attack you, remember that half truth is not Truth! If the initial questions in this piece matter to you personally, dont let anyone feed you hateful rhetoric as daily poison in your soul; investigate for your ownself.
